Monthly Religious Trauma IoPT Workshop
An IoPT workshop for individuals who have experienced religious trauma
Service Description
Ideally, religion would be a source of support in the journey of self-understanding and personal development. However, for many people it has created an ever-deepening wound -- the wound of disconnection from ourselves. Dr. Gabor Maté said, "Every human being has a true, genuine, authentic self. The trauma is the disconnection from it and the healing is the reconnection with it." Religion, when its focus is on a God outside of ourselves who is required for salvation, steers us away from ourselves and often even promotes a view of human nature as unworthy, if not outright evil. This leads to painful life experiences such as anxiety, self-loathing, self-destructive behaviors, disabling perfectionism, fear of expressing oneself, repression of emotions seen as 'negative', repression of healthy human sexuality, and disconnection from or even hatred of the body, among other things. IoPT and its practical tool, The Intention Method, provide a way of understanding and recovering from the painful impacts of religion on the psyche. Using it, we can meet ourselves through a different lens -- one that recognizes the Self as inherently whole, worthy, beautiful, and wise. In doing so, a space opens in which we gain access to our natural vitality, our joy, and our ability to express ourselves in authentic and life-affirming ways. This monthly workshop is limited to 12 people. There will be time for two participants to have their own self-encounter (the term used for an IoPT process). These individuals can request a working spot by contacting Katrina in advance or may be selected by lottery if there are open spots at the time the workshop begins. Please note that there is an additional $60 charge for working spots and that this fee will be billed following the workshop. Other participants may participate as resonance givers or as observers -- roles that can be equally meaningful. Experience with IoPT is not required, but if you are not yet familiar with this method, please schedule a free consultation with Katrina before registering. Schedule: - Thursday, June 27, 9:30am - 1pm Mountain time - Thursday, July 24, 9:30 - 1pm Mountain time - Thursday, August 22, 9:30 - 1pm Mountain time (To register, click on 'Book Now' and then on the date of the workshop you wish to attend.)
